I never thought caroling could be this fun, maybe because this was my first time caroling? This year, i really felt the joy and warmth of christmas because i had never spend my christmas with so many people i know and who know the true meaning of christmas. The past years were either spend at home counting down and praying or out in the streets partying with friends. This time round i could really share my joy with brothers and sisters and i am so so glad about that. ^^ it never occured to me that i would be doing that because for one thing, i cant sing. and secondly caroling seems such a passe to me like sort of traditional activity that very little actually do in singapore and nowadays people carol on the streets to earn money. hardly ever those going door to door and sing for the sake of bringin the festive joy. i cant remember if our church did it last year or not but yes we should do this every year!!:)

my friend, PJ also enjoyed himself alot. He said that it's quite different from the caroling he had done in thailand because our church actually chartered a bus to ferry us around and we had song sheets and even practice before leaving! For them they had to really walk to the different houses and there werent any preparation and feasts like ours. So let's be thankful for the welfare we have here! we are very blessed. pj also mentioned that our service is very fun coz we dance and we worship with alot of energy..and in thailand he said they just sit down and clap. haha. but of coz we shouldnt compare because God looks at the heart.
Thanks all for making pj feel at home! he's a good natured brother and he'll be back next week to church! yay!!:)

Just now, i was just contemplating whether to type my experience from camp iFaith here or in my own blog, but i guess i'll just type it here and probably copy(ctrl+c) and past(ctrl+v) into my own blog another day.

let's see. Camp iFaith.

seems like not many people have really blogged much about the camp in this blog.but i'm gonna be one.

For one, it was really a spectacular camp. to be honest, when i went for the pre-camp at amtech on that particular sunday afternoon, i was not all that excited about it. it was, to me, just another oh-yeah grow and learn camp. after all, it just takes me probably a week or two to go back to my normal lifestyle. in fact, i really wanted to just go home after the service. and it ended that way as well, not interested about the camp not interested about anything about the camp. other than the fact that i knew the camp shirt was nice.

the first day didn't started well also. i didn't like the points system. yes it did bring out the competitive spirit and unity in the group, but somewhat a little dis-unity amoung THE groups. and also, my group was leading from the back. but what happened that very night changed my life.

praying for the 3 brothers(joshua,adriel,jeremiah) was really a task for me.i haven't been hearing his voice for the past few weeks. and at the point of time, neither did i hear him. i was praying hard, but nothing was happening in me to them or anything at all. Then, david called me to the front and told me something(which to me is really personal and shocking till now), and got me really touched. it was as though God was really speaking to me again. i told myself that i won't tear just because everyone is, nor because of the atmosphere, but i really let myself go that very night. i was told to let go and fall. Give it all to God. and i did, totally, for the first time.

throughout the camp i really encountered what Faith means to me. so strong that until now, i've become a changed person once again. i admit at some sessions i was horribly tired and blah blah blah but it did get into my head, all those information. the subsequent days were fabulous after i hand everything to God. i told him that if it was to be that this is my group, i shall use this advantage to my fullest. Slowly, the group became relatively united, decreasing amount of cold shoulders and tough knocks. superb!

even the worship leading was amazing. to tell the truth, i was horribly horribly awfully terribly nervous, after all, i had to really treat the youths like kids, which wasn't really a good thing cause kids nowadays don't follow the dances. and my songs were oldies. but i told myself before everything started, it's all in God's hands..it's all in God's hands..., and thank God it went really well. i think? it felt great worshipping God all over again.

so in conclusion, the camp really rocked my life, changed it all over again. and guess what? i've still no idea why my group was able to win the best cheer award till this day. it was like a....erm....non-memorable,non-wordy,super short,just a lot of weird actions, anyhow come up, kind of cheer. i guess, it was God's working as well. :) THANK YOU GOD AMEN!

Getting in touch with (i)Faith

During the leader's prep course, Jon Wong asked the leaders a question, but in the end he asked everyone the question anyways. What do you expext from the camp. Which got me thinking, what DID I expect from the camp? Before he said tat at the prep course, he seemed to be telling me some kind of riddle, smiling, laughing and slapping my back, he asked, what is different from church camp from all your other camps? Besides the obvious,(which is God), I said could find something more special, so I replied bonding.

But this was what he was emphasising. God was the different part. God was going to move in the camp. More than what I expected, ever. I expected that there would be worship sessions, I expected that there would be the TAGs. But I did not expect the impact it would have on me. It really did asseverate what faith really was about and more.

Through the camp I realised how immature I was in Christ, the Word of God, the questions put forward, I took it all only at a superficial level. I realised how unprepared I was when taking on the role of a leader, I believed in myself only. It was only on the last day when I looked back, I was moved, to tears at what this camp has instilled into me (dun think you saw it Joel, but i was lazing beside you on the wall after my tesimony, hohoho).

Of course other than all the worship and prayers, fun and bonding was the other criterias of a successful camp I guess, in which the camp commitee did a great job! I do not know whether the games had any significant messages behind them, but the games got the members together, with several challeging factors to raise their confidence!

Camp was tiring, I was fatigued, slightly stressed and nervous, I thought that oh man, this was supposed to be a mini retreat of sorts, little did I know, today, after I've headed back to camp (Army), all that was in my head was iFaith, I wanted to just enjoy the company of the brothers and sisters and God.

Kudos to you James!Kekeke (pun not intended), I liked the ways you said Grace, hahaha. Thanks to you guys who prayed for me as well!

And just to mention something that I feel I should really thank God for. Last Sunday I didn't attend Cell cause I had to go home and prepare for an exam the following monday. Well actually this exam was supposed to be completed already, but due to technical glitches, the professor had us students take the exams on different days instead. (It's an online MCQ exam, but you had to come to school to take it in the computer labs.) Anyway even though there were technical glitches, I was one of 8 students on the actual day to actually COMPLETE the test, and I thought, Wow lucky me. Then to my horror, the professor started saying out the marks of the 8 pple to the whole lab, and the other 7 got 40+/50. When the prof came to mentioning my marks, he said "Ahem Jun Yong I think you can do better". And I totally crumbled. I sort of knew I didn't do that well, but at least he didn't mention the marks to everybody. Anyway after that, the professor said that I could retake the exam if I wanted. Without hesitation I said yes, but only after learning of my marks first. I got 27/50. Ouch!

Anyway on monday I went back to the lab to take the exam, to find that I was the only person there at the time. =.= Anyway it felt less stressful without the people around and I thought I did alot better. I didn't find out the marks though, cause the professor wasn't around, but I'm quietly confident I got 40+ too. Yippee! It did help that I had a "preview" of the questions since I completed it once already, but the questions were all different, but along the same line.

Good news to share...

MY LEAVE FOR CAMP IS APPROVED!!!

maybe to some of you might think that applying leave is easy but not in my case. my bossessss (3 boss) dont allow leave whenever we want/need.

i have been wanting to apply leave early this time round.a lot of things happen in office causes me to hesitate.somehow i think the timing is not rite.my leave wont be approved if i ask at that point of time.so all this waiting last till this morning..then i went to my 2nd boss room and applied for leave.no second qn was asked from him, usualli he will ask wat is the leave for n etc...the whole procedure oni lasted for 1 min.came out of the room thinking that "wow leave is approved, i can go youth camp already,whoo hoo"

my 1st boss came in with the black face...gail i need to tell u something pls come to my room...OH OH...
1st boss : we got a sales meeting with our principal from 3 dec to 5 dec...pls clear all your work load by then n get ready to present this meeting...almost fainted ...that is the dates for my youth camp.my face went blank while he continue to brief me. then he looked up n saw my stun face then he ask wat happen..my replied...im on leave for the 3 days, got a church camp to attend...then he raise his voice a little.."how come u r on leave and i wasnt informed".my replied : "my leave was approved 5 mins ago" . then he went silence...

Thank GOD for the right timing.
if i apply my leave long time ago then he got all means to say that he wasnt aware n might lead to cancellation of my leave.
well tiles, continue to pray tat he wont come out with some strange idea to put off my leave.

pardon me those who have been on earth for more than 2 decades. i am having a hard time adjusting to the fact that i am now 20. can anyone seriously believe it? my first ever 2 in the tenths place is out!!! :x soon i will officially be an adult..and i have to work..have to bear so much responsibility. i am not sure if i am able to handle all the autonomy given to me. i know age by itself doesnt mean anything much. a 20 yr old can well be wiser than a 35 yr old..but we cant deny tt as u get older, ppl would demand u to be more mature and sensible. tt means no more "it's ok la, she's still young, dun take it too hard on her." but rather more of "how old alr.. should have known better lor!" ah well.. tt's the way god made us. to grow older, not younger, to mature and not to be become childish.

nonetheless, thanks alot tiles for remembering my birthday! this is my 2nd bday spent in cosb and i hope for i can do tt for the rest of my life too. the lunch was great!! i think clarity never disappoints.. and the super duper hard b&j ice cream was delicious too. :) we should have more of such lunches. ^^

YEARP. there's it. As you can see, i will be ending earlier than Marilyn... BUT it isnt a very fortunate thing either cos i have 2 CLUSTERS. Noteably 5th to 6th and 13th to 14th. It isnt helping especially when they are all important and heavily content based subjects like geog and my most feared chemistry.

Feelings on current situation? I'm just going to bang and whack this thing and pray that God will be with me that i may have the stamina and brains too "breeze" through the As. Probably the scariest thing ever (especially when you teacher puts it in a way that says "you have worked 10 years of your education life for this exam, it's DO OR DIE") but yah, dont exactly belief it it cos christ saved me to live, and live joyfully. SO yearh.... Pray it'll all be nice in the very end, just gotta put it all in God's hands :D

Hoped everybody who went kayaking had a great time!

Thank God for good weather and that everybody returned back to shore safe! And if you noticed Rachel wanted to share something right after our photo-taking but I hushed her... here's the something.

Well it turns out that the person who was in-charge of the boats was in fact my HQ BMTC (HeadQuarters Basic Military Training Centre) colleague! It really turned out to be a blessing because he mentioned that this was to be his last day working there, and.. he said the crowd today was much more than the usual weekend crowd (no thanks to us), but he still helped us get our boats first :)
And.. he gave us the second hour for free! Which I thought was really generous because.. 16 boats would mean $160! I think God can bless us in ways we least expect. :)

Thought ill take this time to thank God for saving me from getting charged or maybe 7 extras.

My company's storeman called me this afternoon to ask for his store key. Apparently, when i was COS(Company Orderly Sergeant) in camp on Friday, he had passed me the keys before booking out. That was 3 days ago and i forgot if i really took the keys or if i had taken them, where'd i put them. The CSM(my superior) wanted to open the store and the key was nowhere to be found. Of course i panicked. Losing the storekey was a pretty serious offence and to cut the long story short because i need to book in now, i prayed really hard and told the storeman to look around. He found the keys on one of the office tables.

Before I write about myself, I'll like to thank Joy for updating us on herself. Thank you for taking the initiative to do so. As a cell, we're a little family group, and its important for us to continue encouraging one another.

I've been blogging very little of late. Its supposed to be 'off-peak' at work now, but I somehow still find myself as busy as ever, or maybe even busier than before. Last Saturday was one of my busiest Saturday's ever. I woke up at about 9am, played soccer at 10am, went for worship practise at 1pm, had a paintball strategy discussion at 3.45pm, photoshoot at 5pm, IT fair at 7.30pm, and finally a family function at 8.30pm. 6 events in one day. I was very tired, and that's mainly why I didn't converse with many of you on Sunday.

As much as Gail and I would like to get in touch with all of you at least once a week, sometimes we fall short for one reason or other. If you're feeling bored or if you feel that our relationship with you should be closer, please do not hesitate to call or message us especially at night, after office hours. The closer we can be, the better! (",)

Here's a pic of something fun I played today... Paintball! I'm proud to say that I was captain and sharpshooter for my team. We needed to burst the enemy balloon, and my team won 3 out of 4 times. I thank God for helping me to burst the enemy balloon all 3 times that my team won! I played with my colleagues. It was selections day to pick the best players for my company team.

Felt, like blogging a short one, don't mind, cos i'm not blogger of the week.

Really miss you guys, really want to join cell again... argh. can't wait for A'levels to end. Would trade tuition time for cell.. it's quite torturing at times. But anyway, i got some news to tell you all. I'll make it brief..

1. Thank God for my first prelim paper that just passed (GP). One of the essay questions that came out was something i wrote about a few months ago and all.. either way, thank God that it wasn''t demoralizing, that might cause me to give up hope on the other papers.

2. Thank God i found back my momentum for the books.. going pretty well.. i'm beginning to see the light. Oh yeah and for my friends that are currently studying with me.

3. Thank God i'm back doing my QT on a daily basis. Used to find it quite a chore...but i think i realized that when i do QT, things do really go much better...i'm beginning to function like a real human being. So really, those not doing.. MUST do okae....

4. I have alot to add to point three but let's wait till another time?

5. I'm going to leave on a mission trip during the december holidays with my teacher and a few schoolmates. THough my cell group should know first. Don't worry, i don't think i'll get captured.. i don't think so...

6. I REALLY MISS CELL.

Here's my long awaited testimony about our wonderful God that answers our prayers. So dear brother and sisters, i shall tell u the moral of the story before i begin. Our God really does answers our prayers.

last weekend, my whole mind was kept bothering about prom. Well yes, there are more issues than the dress and who to go with that night. Some background on this sitution i got caught in:

I was supposed to be sitting with my two best friends/classmates in school along with some other random people i knew. Everything was supposed to be settled. But because i had this friend whom i've been helping cope with the ostracism and whatnot from her class, i decided to backout of the table, and form one with her and some other random people, so at the very least she'll go to prom and enjoy a night she wanted to. Rather than skip it all together cos i wasnt on the same table as her.

Everything WAS supposed to be settled on friday, but then somethings just happened, and i was left with 4 empty seats which i had to fill by monday along with the 850 plus 85 dollars table.The additional 85 was because of a muslim friend that was joining us (this is a whole complex issue i tell u). But either way i was left distressed because it was likely impossible for me to find 4 new people by sunday and get them to pay up by monday. 85 bucks -_-.

I really tried to focus on my work, focus during FOP, focus on sunday service... but when u're stressed about something urgent and COMPLETELY out of your hand, you just keep thinking about it. I think i called about half the school (ok, kua zhang), but everyon else didnt seem interested at all.

But on sunday when Y-in prayed for me after i confided in her, things began to turn around.

For one, the stubborn joel tan (if u rmb him as my bestie guitarist) decided to go, and "forsake" his youth camp and risk the chance of getting scolded by his youth pastor because of prom. And he suggested paying for the other holy rambutan (yes there are three of us) to go. THough i found it difficult to pay half the cost for Aaron, i decided to bless him either way, cos he deserves it (wouldn't you for a good friend?) Aaron told me not to expect much as his parents were not very approving of prom due to certain reasons. However that evening he called and told us that he'd be going and he'd pay his own share.

It was more than just 2 seats filled, it was because i now have people i can completely relate to and am willing to share my final and most beautiful time in jc with 2 of my bestest friends in mj who has blest me both emotionally and spiritually. I never thought we'd be able to spend prom with each other cos we're all from different classes. But now we can, i'm just absolutely elated.

Though i still had 2 seats unfilled by 10pm at night, i was already screaming with joy inside, cos it just seemed too good to be true.

To cut the long story short, the next two seats were filled by 2 of my guy classmates the next day who had enough to pay. The table now is complete and all that messy pieces of jigsaw now fit perfectly. Initially i was so desperate i couldnt bother anymore if the people on the table knew each other, but now they all do... perfectly well.

THough this may appear to be a small incident in my life, or as viewed by you. Recalling the stress and anguish and helplessness at that point in time, it was as if the greatest mountain i had to ever climb.

I'm just so glad that i have a God, a real one that answers my prayers... so quickly and on time. Thank God. So happy i managed to share it with a non-christian friend. THough he might think i'm crazy, if i continue doing it, he might think that he's crazy not to belief that our God is real !

Either way, i'm a joyful happy person now. So yearp, of all most importantly, always give thanks to God. So yearh, i just did it. Hope you guys are encouraged in whatever tough and frustrating situation you're in that seems COMPLETELY out of control. Commit it God, pray and pray and pray. He answers our prayers =D

Yay, we finally had a cell outing after a long time! Unfortunately several members were unable to join us, but dun worry, Roanna posted pics up so tat u can exoerince wat we went thru! Abit la... The outing came at the right time.

I was feeling rather down and am quite stressed out, after the past week, but an outing and after that a short shopping trip helped to relieve me of my tiredness. Example of what I had been so stressed out about was, there was an MP (military police) body check. An guess what my MP3 player was in my pocket, and MP3 players ar not allowed in my camp! If caught I were to be by the MP, I have no idea what would have happened. I prayed and prayed, and guess what, the fella took my MP3 player took a look, then asked me to keep everything and strutted off.

PHEW thank god, plus I had alot of stuff taken from me without my knowledge and just at that time, people asked for a machine and nominal roll, it was alost as good as having punishment pushed in my face for nothing. But again, I prayed and prayed, I have never prayed so much before. And I escaped unscathed, that week proved useful in teaching me to pray for the simplest thing, keeping God number One in my mind.

hey peeps. just wanna update something here since i haven't really updated here for quite a while. thanks for all your prayers. today i'm feeling energized once again as i do my homework and revise through my work. and i'm feeling so excited and happie. i hope and pray that this will last till the end of the A levels.

it's really "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." and i'm all excited!! especially after talking to a schoolmate that i known since last year. yet we never knew each other is a christian till last friday. this reminds me of something from today's sermon that if a christian doesn't have a small part of God's image, its not a good thing. so therefore, i'm here to say that i want a change in my life out of church. i want people to see me and know that i'm a christian. me and my friend were talking about how God really helped us through this JC life and i'm really glad God put me around so many christians since the day i stepped into JC. although there are many i do not know that are christian till recently, i believe, he will bring me through all the "tortures" and my life is already planned by him.

I have attended many Christian events in my life - Festival of Praise, Benny Hinn Crusade, Fire Conference, Metamorphosis Conference, Planetshakers Concert, church camps and so on - but this was absolutely the best ever experience I've had! Throughout the conference, I got to praise and worship God with peoples from many tongues and tribes, and it was truly like 'Heaven on Earth'! (",)

I went with 2 primary goals in mind, to learn from our Korean brothers and sisters in Christ how they live their lives (whom I have heard so many good reports about), and to learn how such a super-scale event (17000-20000 people) is organised (maybe I'll help to organise one for the Lord next time). Both goals were met, and I was blessed in many more ways. (",)

I was particularly inspired by how the Koreans pray. They pray with much passion, and spend much time praying too. I was also encouraged by their faith, how they raised so much money (USD 4 million I hear) to host us, and how they brought unsaved friends, many of whom invited Jesus into their hearts on the final night. Last but not least, their unity impressed me. Coming from so many different parts of Korea (and USA too - LA, NY, Chicago), and different churches, they came together to organize this conference. You could see the unity in the small group gatherings everywhere too.

Some of you might wonder why I still remain so active with CCC. The reason is simple. I really hope that everyone will be saved and go to heaven, and I believe strongly in CCC's vision: "Win the Campus today, Win the World tomorrow". No church alone can accomplish it, but church-supported movements everywhere will be able to.

CCC is a movement. And I want to always be a part of the journey to movements everywhere! (",)

more than a month has passed since i left singapore. i'm doing well and fine over here and i'm getting used to everything over here in ohio. I've met people from all over the world and i can tell u that even though we live miles apart, we are still able to relate and identify many similar things with one another.
work is less tiring now coz there are 2 shifts instead of the usual 1. it's good coz we can have more free time to do things that we want. not tt there are many things to do here.. but we can rest more and go to the park to play the rides!! ^^ our paycheck will definitely take a hit but i dun really care abt tt coz earning money is not the main priority of me coming here. i just wan to travel and earn experience:)
i've been to a church here called Calvary Baptist Church.. service is not too diferent jsut tt they sing hyms and they have no offering and communion every week. i miss praise and worship sessions man. oh ya, honestly, i havent been doin my masterlife regularly. ahhh.. there's always things to do and when i have time i'll be so tired tt i doze off while reading it. but i'm trying to do at least a little bit everyday.. heh.. hope i will have the discipline.

Some updates.

Life has been a roller coaster for me in the past weeks.UPss n DOwNsss.. thought of leaving my present company n move on to another job which im not sure on where n wat i wan.this kind of decisions realli burden me down...no motivation to work, each morning will have the thought of taking MC (lolz)...i dislike wat im doing each day. is too routine n is realli no brainer job.my prayer is to get out of this office n be a outdoor sales engineer.toking to customer n providing solutions, is wat i see myself to be. well company oni give opportunity to those who has experience to do outdoor. arghh so when is my turn to be in that role ? 2 more years...i realli getting impatient of waiting w/o any certainty...maybe after 2 years, im still stuck in the same position...this is definetly a prayer in my life that i want to see a break through.

After the june retreat...i got a tok with my 2nd boss (ha ha i got 3 bosses in the office). yeah, he offered me a outdoor sales position...n he ask me whether i wan to take up the challenge..whoo hoo...how can i say no when my prayer is answered...ha haha...actualli he offered me 2 position,1 as outdoor product engineer n the other is outdoor system engineer...i will prefer to be outdoor system engineer but that position is too challenging for me (as for now)..hee hee so i took up the 1st offer...i know things will not be the same...no more 5.30 knocking off...no more slacking ard...no more free time to check personal email...ha ha ha....but im realli excited of wat God has for me ahead...

Otherwise, here are my thoughts for the past two weeks!

First up, June Retreat!
Being my first in 5 years, I was looking forward to the camp alot. However, this year I had to serve as a musician. Looking and thinking back to all the sermons in the camp, I have this thought of "I'm already serving, I doubt there's anymore I should or could do. During the first few sessions I felt that it wasn't really applicable to myself. Nevertheless as the camp went on, I was comforted to know that there are great men of God who, despite their weaknesses, could still serve God faithfully.
I can't exactly recalled when Saturday service started back in 53 Chancery, but ever since then, I've almost served week in week out. lol. Lately I've been going around church asking people to start learning guitar. Is it because I want a full team everytime on stage? Or is it because I need a replacement so I can rest more in between? Maybe both? More importantly, It is God who gives us rest (Matt 11:28), hope I will continue to serve God faithfully!

Mission Trip!
It's been a very interesting trip. Most of us were expecting a very tough 3 days ahead of us. Don't get me wrong, it didn't turn out a walk in the park. It was still tough, but the villagers made our lives alot easier. Got pretty badly burnt, but I guess it's a small price to pay if the shed comes out okay. It's been awhile since I lived like that, brings back memories of army life. I think many of the boys are pretty havoc. It certainly made a tough trip more enjoyable. I would love to see the completed shed! In a photo! haha, don't know if we'll ever be back again.
Also, many perhaps do not appreciate the work done there. After hearing Aunt Veronica during our debrief, I think we all realised how much work is being done in the village. Even if we do not go there physically, let us support the people who are in the mission field! All hands to harvest ya?

What can I do with my worry?

God reminded me of something important during reservist, so here I am sharing more about it with all of you =)

It was through a booklet titled 'What can I do with my worry?'. This Discovery Series booklet by RBC (the organisation that brings you Daily Bread) had been lying around at home for some time until I decided to bring it to reservist. Honestly, I didn't think that I needed to read it because I felt that I had my 'worry' well-controlled. This feeling was perhaps reinforced by the observation that sermons in church on the topic of 'worry' aren't exactly very rare. Well, as it turned out, I believe that God used this book to help me realise that I was wrong and what I could do to become happier.

One of the more noteworthy reminders for me was that there is good worry, as well as bad worry. We want the former, and not the latter. No worry at all is not a good thing because such a person would likely be care-less. This often translates to a poor work attitude and consequently poor results.

Muse - Starlight

Just came back from Taiwan.
The weather there was unpredictable. Unlike Singapore, where a light drizzle usually harbingered a downpour, it is common to experience a sudden heavy shower that lasts for a minute and drizzles that last for hours. Once, when my group and i were walking, a sudden downpour had us rushing to put on our raincoats, only to pack them up a minute later.

We climbed mountains, forgoing sleep on certain days and camped overnight on others. It becomes chilly at night, with temperatures hovering around 10-15degrees by my estimate. Sleeping in a sleeping bag makes for a very comfortable sleep though.

Once, an old man caught my group 'inappropriately dressed' and gave us alot of trouble. As punishment, he wanted us to remain in our hotels the entire time we were in Taipei. Fortunately for us, he was not omniscient.

In the day, we took a bus and went on tours to temples and theme parks. They were entertaining enough, but not really *that* exciting. At night, we roamed the city streets.
The girls in Taiwan are, as our resident doctor puts it, "2 points higher than your average Orchard Road specimen". The cars travel fast and furious. The first time the man turned green, i stood there waiting for the cars to stop. They did not. Fortunately, the locals showed us how to cross the road. Just walk, the cars will stop very near you. I'm not sure if these drivers are flouting the traffic rules or if the traffic rules permit such behaviour.

Finally, we left on a jetplane, don't know when i'll be back to Taiwan again. No matter, there's no place like home!

Feelings

An extract from the 4 Spiritual Laws:

"The promise of God's Word, the Bible - not our feelings - is our authority. The Christian lives by faith (trust) in the trustworthiness of God Himself and His Word. Flying in an aeroplane can illustrate the relationship among fact (God and His Word), faith (our trust in God and His Word), and feeling (the result of our faith and obedience) (John 14:21).

To be transported by an airplane, we must place our faith in the trustworthiness of the aircraft and the pilot who flies it. Our feelings of confidence or fear do not affect the ability of the airplane to transport us, though they do affect how much we enjoy the trip. In the same way, we as Christians do not depend on feelings or emotions, but place our faith (trust) in the trustworthiness of God and the promises of His Word."

The extract above is meant for Christians. I've been thinking of blogging about feelings for sometime, and now that I have defeated procrastination, I'm glad that the time has finally come. I've wanted to share the extract above because of actions I observed that are difficult to understand, and these actions were possibly the result of decisions made that were based on just (or mainly) feelings.

Decisions lead to actions, and actions lead to results. If we would like to see better results in our lives, now might be a good time to re-examine how we often make decisions. A good question to ask ourselves might be: Do I often make decisions based on just (or mainly) how I feel about it? Let's be honest with ourselves and if our answer was "yes", there is a much higher likelihood that many of the decisions we have been making were not good ones at all.

To add a little further caution, another danger of relying overly on feelings is that the evil one is able to influence situations around us that affect our feelings and cause us to make decisions that are against what God wants us to do.

Let us allow God and His Word to be our authority, and not our feelings, so that we may consistently be making decisions that truly honor and please the God (Jesus) we love. Before making any decisions, let's start asking ourselves: Is this a decision that will honor and please God and does it agree with His Word (Bible)?

wah tiles, thanks for the little farewell dinner! i'm glad most of u managed to come. Lately everything's been in a trance. My work is really piling on me and not to mention dance too. Here's a rough idea of my work schedule which involves only the important things

Wow. i am so excited. Considering the fact that i still dont know what is going on in math and i havent been able to do so many other things. I am really really praying for a miracle. Cos only a miracle can help me survive this two weeks! So yep, will be needing prayers from you all.. especially for my SYF.

I've always felt that God had placed me in this dance team for a reason and many good things have come out of it. Learnt so many things from these great teachers out there yet not suffering the bitchiness known to dancers because it simply doesnt occur in this team. I will really miss the dance studio when all this is over and tmrw will be my final performance (tho i really hope not) and i really pray that it'd be a good one.

The dance's title is "wired" and it's about people in the working world being all stressed out, conformed into uniformity and wanting to break out of it. In simple words, like how you dont want to eventually grow up, work, earn money, have family, grow old and die. So it involves alot of emotions and energy. I can relate to that alot.

I had fun playing erm, Ultimate frisbee! Though I wasn't very proficient at throwing. Well, at least everyone got together to get a thrill.

I have been rather stressed at work, I supposed I was put there for a reason. But in anycase, clerical work in the army is a waste of time, while you're waiting for clearance, your officer behind is chasing your to be faster. The work is almost non-stop, I have never experienced a desk job before, I do believe this is gonna be a good one. But in anycase, everyone in the company knows I'm quite stressed out, and they keep telling me to go take a break. But there's too much to do, and no one else knows how to do it. And Im not gonna take a break till it settles down I told myself.

Until, Sunday. I suspect that I've pivoted aroun too much on my knee and landed too much on it. Seemingly, the menis something cartilage is broken, and I can't straighten my knee for the time being, and I got mc for this.

Hopefully it wont take long to heal, but I've gotta go for my MRI first b4 I can confirm anything.
So please pray for a speedy recovery!

Exam Time

Its exam time again for many students... just wanna wish all of you who will be taking your exams all the best! =)

To everyone, let's keep all who are having their exams in prayer! Please take note of the exam dates, and pray as specifically as you can.

To get better grades and glorify God with our good performance in school, all of you are encouraged to spend at least 20 hours a week (excluding time in class) studying.

Hey people! sorry havent been able to catch up with some of you lately and actaually this blog entry is pretty delayed. But because it's a testimony i gotta share i'm still gona post it anyway.

My block tests were quite a surprise to me actaully. My results were both expected and unexpected in a good way. My resutls are as follow: Gp-E, GeogH1- E, Econs H2-C, ChemH2-U, Math H2-U.

I think some of you might ask why that's actaulyl good results. It isnt, and it's definitely not what i'll be going for during the As, but there's cast improvement and it's relatively good to the level. GP was quite a disappointment initially cos it's the lowest i've ever gotten. However compared to the level, majority didnt pass Gp and considering that my class got a triple whamy of difficult passage, questions and darn strict marker(he's like terrible oke, he gave me zero cos one part of the 3 ans were misinterpreted). So an E is actaully fairly above average. For geog, all glory to God that E was the highest grade across the whole level. So yep.. tho i'm not the top, i'm at least one of the 10 or 12 ppl that got an E. But yes, can be better. Econs results were pretty amazing. I didnt expect to pass it actually cos i knew i did my second case study really bad. So i failed the second case study really bad but i passed my first case study really good with a very high A. So thank God. Finally i got something about D in my report card other than GP :D. Chemistry, tho it being a U, i'm very satisfied cos i improved by 20 percent. Though it is supposed to be a double grade jump, i'm still at U. haha. Well at least i'm no longer one of the school's worse student. Just improve 10 pecent for every other test, i'll get an A by Alevels. Math, nothing to say, i didnt even study or do anything about that topic. Haha.. and to get 30% for that paper was quite a surprise . i was just hoping to get a double digit. HAHA.

Oh well.. isnt that the typical life of a student, but with a tinge of God's goodness and grace.

One more very good news.

I got A for A levels PW!! YAY!!! i cant' believe it!!! Thank God thank God. I guess most of you should have heard of the problems i was facing with one particular group mate and about the screwed up written report. So an A is like.. a miracle. He got an A too. amazingly. But i need to thank God for more than that. Because he placed me in the right school, and praise God that MJ's one of the top schools for PW results. As doubled this year. YAY! praise God again.

So to those out there despaired in whatever situations you are at and when all logic tells you that the world is going to crash on you, know that you have a God that is greater than the world and he can change things in the most amazing ways ever.

DECISIONS! DECISIONS! DECISIONS!

Woot! Just finished my computing practical... which sadly.. isn't going to come back with a rosy score and a teacher's chop "GOOD JOB!" or something like that.

Nevertheless onto other things!

Well despite being onstage for church close to every week, I still consider myself as a so-so guitarist. I recalled calling myself a "stagnated-guitarist". Having able to play chords easily with abit of strumming and plucking was actually quite sufficient for an on stage guitarist. That being said, these few weeks, I've been practicing quite hard to improve myself. It's been because of my friend who recently started jamming with some of his friends and his constant urging for us to go jam together and stuff. I haven't been jamming with them, but his enthusiasm sorted of rubbed off on everyone of us. While his music is more about "muse" and other rock bands, I've been focusing more on "hillsongs" and "planetshakers". Lol, it does make for funny conversations when we talk about riffs and stuff.

Right, so, why "Decisions! Decisions! Decisions!"? Firstly, after my exam I'll have to decide on what engineering I'm going to major in. I have put some thought into it, but I think I'll have to do more research on the courses before making the decision. Also... I've been really wanted to improve my guitar sounds onstage! If you've seen professional guitarists like Nigel of hillsongs, you would have seen his effects pedals and stuff. Here's Some Pictures for you to see!

The picture above shows a collection of pedals aka stompboxes. Pedals alone can cost about $100+ already, so a collection like that above would be really expensive. That being said, there is another alternative to all that clutter above, and here it is!

This is a multi-effects pedal! Comes with many many many presets for you to fiddle around with, and has even more sounds than the cluttering of stompboxes above, and it's cheaper too! This cost $592 from www.citymusic.com.sg. You might be asking, "Then get it already!" Right, the problem is multi-effects like this one are actually digital effects. In short, it doesn't sound as authentic as a guitar plucked into an amp. It makes the sound quite.. "computerish" if you want to put it that way. However there are alot of comments about it being good enough for on stage playing if you're not picky! Some say most wouldn't even tell the difference.

Argh! Which is why I really need to try it first before making a decision. Six hundred bucks is alot of money! BUT IT'S EXAM PERIOD! Argh Again!

Ah well.. too long a post already. Time to do my last physics online assignment.

just wanna say a BIG THANKS to all who were involved in The Vacuum. I thought the whole event was very smooth sailing and the actors and actresses did a wonderful job! i especially love the lift video and the lightings. (didnt know church got disco lights too!!! felt like dancing lor.) ^^

although my fren didnt accept Christ last night, i think God sure spoke to him in a special way and my friend said that you guys were really friendly! thanks man.

also thanks to ejames for sharing with him, i think he needed the advice. i will continue to keep in touch with him and meanwhile do pray for my friend, swee kuan, to be able to see more of god's greatness.

Focus on the Worship, not the music.

I was getting guitar tabs for service this week, and i read this article by a person called kenny.

I just attended a 3 day event in my church, with a 30min worship session each evening. Worship, music-wise, on the first two days were ok because several members from the youth music ministry were involved, but none of the musicians on the third day were in the music team, and did not have as much experience. This showed noticeably, as, for example, the band wasn't very tight, and did not control the dynamics very well.

But the worship itself was the most intimate and intense as compared to the previous 2 sessions, for the congregation. It isn't surprising though, because over the past two days, people were confessing and repenting of their sins, opening their hearts to God's voice, and getting right with God again.

This reminded me that worship must be God-led. Good worship doesn't happen because the band or the music is 'cool'; rather, good worship occurs because the worshiper loves and seeks the Lord.

Many of us serve in our church's music team, and we must remember, during rehearsals, not to focus too much on the music, but to focus on the worship instead. Instead of using the music to induce a sense of worship, the music should be aligned to what the worshiper would like to sing to express his or her feelings and praise to God. In other words, we play good music not because we need good music to be able to worship, but because we want to give God the best kind of worship we can give.

In a way, the music doesn't matter as much as we might like to think, because music is an expression of worship, and not a crutch we need to worship. I help out with my church's deaf service often, and they don't use music, of course. Worship comprises mainly of reading and signing song lyrics, and the worship is as engaging and intimate as any with music!

Lastly, musicians often focus too hard on their instruments, rather than on worshiping. Try to worship while you're playing, and let your playing be an extension of the worship in your heart, rather than a set of notes that you've practiced for. It may be hard to do so, thus you need to practice hard at home, and not overexert yourself during service.

The last 2 weeks have been high key for me. Watermanship(crossing rivers, making beachheads), section quick attack live firing, platoon deliberate attack live firing, demolitions live firing.

Just wanna thank God for favourable weather when we were out in the field. It didnt rain whenever we were not under shelther. Did not have much sleep for the past week but i managed to pull through.

The friday i had my watermanship, i was supposed to do guard duty on 17 March Saturday. This was fine with me because my original guard duty was supposed to be on the 25 March, Sunday but i swapped with my friend so that i could attend my friend's birthday party on the 24th. However, my Platoon Sgt suddenly told me that i had to call my dad regarding some university interview. As it turned out, i was to go for the communication studies test/interview at NTU the same day i had my guard duty. If not for God's providence, i would have been in a dilemma. But thank God that my company 2IC announced later that all guard duty on the 17 March will be covered by the Out Of Coursees(OOC). As a result, i was able to attend the Comm studies admission test/interview and still be able to go to my friend's party later on.

God is good. Amen.

There was a nice turn of events for me at work on Monday. What happened was pretty common, and I believe that it was prayer that brought about the surpise winds of change. If you had prayed for me, I'm really very grateful! =) Basically, I was reassigned to another client on Monday morning, and the result of this was that I get to work in Orchard this week, right opposite Far East Plaza! haha *Grin* (I found a fruit store on the 4th floor that sells cheap and really sweet fruits). I have friendlier colleagues this team too, so praise God! =) I've still been busy, but I think I would have been even busier and negatively stressed at the other client.

Yeah, we need more pictures heh! I haven't taken any with myself in it recently, so here's a nice one I picked from the Net.

every monday, my company got this training to be conducted by staffs and review by our boss...so this week is my turn to present...guess wat...is postphone...YEAH...cos i wasnt realli FULLY prepared for the presentation...so i was praying that my boss wont be around today...whoo hoo...and he was called for a site meeting urgently...haha...then i got more time to prepare...

God's blessing is so evident in my work life..God's favour allows me to get more sales, more opportunities, good working relationship with colleague...wat's more can i ask from Him...He has given me more than i expected...

PLEASE pray HEALING of the TUMOUR (if got miracles THIs two wks) & ALSO pray SAFETY during OPERATION for her SON:

my mum's cell group member who named auntie Yizhen now attending our church bilingual service with her daughter (Zi Wei,16years old) & her son (Yong Qing,14 years old).

the doctor say must go for operation... the tumour has made Yong Qing never grow in Height... so he scared/shy to join secell... he scared being look down because of his height at his age.

Her son (Yong Qing) have Tumour in the brain, so please pray for Him... His OPeration is on 29March....

as u all know tumour operation in the brain is a very dangerous operation... ...so do pray for him the operation to be successful

so Pray GOD will Heal him and increase HIS FAITH (so He can share a serious + real life testimony of the healing of GOD in his LIFE to his non christian friends next time)...
if YOng Qing recover fast after the operation, i will invite Him and his sister will join secell & also the youth activities....

I always felt the week before exams are the hardest to live through. And my school being one of the most sadistic, had to make that week our march holiday. So technically speaking, for the first time in a life i can say this, with no question or doubt.

I. have. no. life.

Well, unless you take into account the life i have with christ... which isnt all that alive and interesting. I wish it would be though.

Somebody wake me from the doomsday of A levels. PLEASE!!

But enough of this rattling, and talks about not enough time and wanting to make friends with some imaginary friend of mine that can bend time proving the space time continum (did i even spell that right) wrong...

God is good.

I never thought i'd actaully be able to last consecutive full days of study (10.30am-9, 11-2). He led me to a friend to find this spunky claustrophobic most boring place on earth to study. It feels like an exam hall man. Cos, without this amount of studying/mugging this week, i dont see how i will make it through my block tests (yes i know tests sounds minimal, but it's actaully quite a big thing, cos i dont want to see the principal and then make me cry and demoralized for a whole term)

Okae.. i hope i will make it through block test.

That's about it. I guess.. until i get my results..

Woohoo! It's the weekend finally.

Obviously my week has been filled up with tutorials, lab reports and lectures :) Although the good thing is there aren't any more exams until April 21st. Overall I'm pretty happy with how my mid-terms have turned out. Although I'll still need to put in alot more effort in the coming weeks!

Right, it's saturday 1pm now, and I'll be going off, probably get a haircut, off to uncle dennis' place with my secondary school friends to get a guitar for my friend, hopefully get some stuff for my guitar and dinner with church dudes! Gotta love weekends!

ok this is like my 3rd time writing this same entry becos there is somthing wrong w my a/c, comp or blogspot..

because my house comp a bit slow and need to "Q" to use and my laptop....SIGH!!!
my laptop was send for repair as there's something wrong and also to make use of the last opportunity to send to toshiba for servicing before the warranty expires. the technician told me my laptop cant be revived and had to change the whole hard disk and Bye to all my photos and doc in there..GONE GONE GONE

now for some happy and normal things..not to make anyone jealous but i hv been lazing around at home and around spore..still trying to find a part time job as maybe my expectations too high? or im too lazy? anyway congrats to su ling u hv found a job!!!

This past week has been horrible! Ups and downs, I even got quite upset about my punishment which i thought was quite ridiculous( I was punished to throw rubbish for 1 whole week even though i didn't know i was supposed to throw rubbish)...More downs than ups actually...

I missed church last sunday cos i was in Genting. IT WAS not FUN MAN!!!
I didn't go to the theme park, I didn't enter the casino and i wasted alot of money on food.

Hmm, when i was down and upset, I kept asking my big daddy up there why why why??
I didn't get any answers, until Sunday came. It was on the last page of week 3 in masterlife, my mood just lifted all of a sudden after I read the paragraph, suddenly I felt relieved and free and happy, I dunno why...

Hee hee, then James, Algene, Vanessa, Su Jun and *I* went to watch the show Three Hundred. WOO, their muscles were wow! Nice show!

I realized.. i'm supposed to blog this week right?

Nothing inspiring to inspire u aspiring people out there. other than my stream of consciousness, and that is if you even get something out of it.

The week's been pretty tough with pre tests (they're just test that comes before block tests). THough i only had three days of school, i still have my eye rings growing and according to my teacher have turned white. White and pale is different.

Thank God, i dont need to use whitening cream now. Not that i even use them.

My grades are fluctuating from As to Fs. Keep me in prayer okae. First, my chem really really.. *puke*. I think i scored the lowest amongst all the three classes my teacher teaches. Quite depressing cos till now, i still dont know what i'm doing is the right thing.. and i've only got one "mug-until-die" week to understand the whole organic chemistry and deduce properly all the stuff and equations and what not for block test. I know A levels is the end point, bt at least showing an improvement from straight Fs to a C or D would be encouraging. My tutor keeps saying, "not everyone of you here will get an A for chem. I'm sorry but that's the hard fact" obviously, being the worst student he's ~~ever~~ taught, i was obviously one of the(everyone)'.

Bleah. I dont know, bt i only hope i can prove him wrong.

But i really dont register science. period. what nucleophilic and then electrophilic and then suddenly some idofoam... ahh

nvm.

Still, i want to thank God for my good grades at Geog and Gp. At least it balances out the F in chem. They're my best subject.. tho they are only H1s(equivalent of AO or somewhat) and are pushing me to maintain or get an A for it. yeppies. Just broke my record for GP essay. wont brag here. Wahaha.. i'm just elated.

So i left school in term one feeling -10+5+5= 0. pretty much neutral i guess.

Block test is coming up in one week. and i'll be having my GP paper on monday (one week before). So pray for em will ya. Especially for my chem.. and maybe math. And that i wont lose my nuts, cos it's been happening pretty frequently. Falling into emotional potholes again and again. Not forgetting time management, so i'll still find time for QT.

Well.. that's all i have about me.

While I feel slightly cheated that NTU's mid-term holidays do not clash with the CNY holidays, nonetheless it is the time of the year when exams and tutorials jumble up together to make us under-graduates feel highly inadequate.

Just came back from my maths paper. The professor announced after the paper that the answers with workings will be available online once we reached home. I checked and... I scored 8/10. It is a relatively good score considering all my efforts put in. Praise God!

I FinallY mange to post! haha. YAY~

anyway, really missed u guys today. been quite sometime since i last seen u guys~ many things had been happening and thank all for praying for me. My family is coping well and I am very touched by the care and concern shown by u guys and the crusaders from school. :)

today, i went for the national vertical marathon! was a really challenging race.. and i managed to complete it! a total of 66 stories at Republic Plaza.. did it in abt 19 mins. Not too bad for a short leg person by me. haha. the process was rather tough tho, was breathing heavily and panting at barely 20 stories already. i think coz it was enclosed and thus quite stuffy. my quadriceps were screaming halfway through and it was by pure peseverance that i managed to carry on. of coz my great team mates who were very encouraging too, we helped one another along the way. pretty amazing coz we varely knew each other! haha. and yes i did ask jesus to help out too!
all in all, it was a memorable experience! would do it again next year! ^^

Potential

The word 'potential' came to my mind when I was thinking about all of you a few days ago =) The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines 'potential' as 'something that can develop or become actual'.

I believe that God was telling me that every single one of us have potential, the potential to do many great works for God, just like the men and women of faith in Hebrews 11. Is it really possible? Well, I am very sure that it is because God has already given us gifts, talents and skills.

Here's the big question though: 'Will you live up to your potential'?

Living up to our potential is not something that will just happen, without us putting in effort at all. We have to make conscious efforts, to take action steps that involve the use of our gifts/talents/skills for God, so that when we look back in future, we can confidently and joyfully say that we have done well in our service to God.

Its never good to waste, what more the precious gifts/talents/skills that we have? =)

if you are:

TYPE A Shy, a bit of an introvert. You are more stubborn and like to stay alone quietly at home. To you, talking to strangers is a hard thing so you have not much friends. In this way, you can understand yourself more.

TYPE D You are stubborn, like to go in circles and don't get to the point. Once you decide on something, no one can change your mind. You are a good leader in a group so you win a lot of trust from your friends. But as you are too persistant on your own thinking, you neglect other people's suggestions therefore you can easily make enemies. Although it is good to maintain your own character but it doesn't mean you totally ignore other people's thoughts and feelings. You will let people think you are hard to handle and you will lose friends gradually and may end up alone. You need to learn to accept other people's opinion. This will make your social circle bigger and you will understand yourself better

Project Zuperstar

The cool nickname for Project Z just popped up in my mind today... hahaha. It actually stands for Project Zerubbabel. Our zone leader will elaborate more in time. Well, I hope that all of you enjoyed the spiritual gifts profiling exercise today! =) I certainly did, even though its the second time that I took it. I couldn't remember any of the questions so it was like new to me.

I did a quick survey after the session and it seems like we've got a good mix of people who are strong in different spiritual gifts for our cell heh. Every gift is special in itself, and I don't think there's any gift that is better or inferior to the rest. Its now a good time to start considering more areas of ministry service. Do take time to read up on your spiritual gifts in the additional material given at the end of the session. Please pray and talk to God about the stronger spiritual gifts that you have identified and where you can serve too.

As I mentioned today, especially for those of us who are younger (in physical and/or spiritual age), there is a higher likelihood that other spiritual gifts will become more prominent as we mature spiritually. It might be good to take this test again in 3-6 years as such =)

hi all,
has come back from taiwan abt a week...have lotz of fun in taipei n gao xiong with van n matz...shop till we drop n eat until we go bankrupt...taiwan is a nice to be in...sevice is excellent n things there is cheap oso...prefer shopping in taiwan than in hongkong...will try to load some pict for u all to see...

this year has enter in a quiet manner for me...not to certain on wat to expect...will try to find time to think it thru...

im writting this blog with a heavy heart...but i know that i got to trust in the lord...anyway pls keep me in prayer ya...

heyhey! ^^ it's time for cell outing again~

dun miss out the great ambience, great food, great value for money and not forgetting great company. :D
i guess there will also be time to do some last min christmas shopping at bugis. then after that we will head down to church to help out in the preparation for the christmas service by 3pm.~
an important reminder from our dearest ejames, pls remember to bring friends on saturday! guess wad? i asked my mum to go and she said yes!! praise god~ i'm so so happy. i will continue to pray for her and u guys pls do include her in your prayers too ok? ^^
